Regardless of age, more and more men and women have minor foot problems and need to pay attention to their footwear.
The majority of the population presents:
- Tiredness when standing
- Pain when walking
- Hardness
- Chafing
- Deformations in the fingers
Remember, footwear should adapt to the foot and not the other way around. Learning to wear healthy shoes by correctly choosing the right size (length) and width is the key to success.
A GOOD FOOTWEAR FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF BIOMECHANICS SHOULD:
- Adapt to the changing shape of the feet during walking, without squeezing them, avoiding chafing and preventing deformations of the toes.
- Adapt to the foot so as not to hinder its movements, providing a stable and economical gait, referring to walking without more effort than necessary.
- Cushion the impacts generated when walking when the heel hits the ground, protecting the joints from injuries and increasing the feeling of comfort.
- Distribute the pressures endured on the soles of the feet, avoiding painful points and continued pressure.
- A well-finished interior to prevent skin problems, eliminating coarse, thick or poorly arranged seams.
- Good breathability of the materials and adequate thermal comfort that prevents excessive sweating.
- Ability to grip the ground to prevent slips and falls.
The abnormal position of the foot in the shoe causes:
- Alterations in the position of the fingers.
- Alterations in the position of the plantar vault.
- Alterations in the plantar distribution of pressures.
- Modifications in the transmission of forces derived from support.
- Alterations in postural alignment.
- Alterations in the subject's gait pattern.
- Increases in the energy cost necessary to develop walking.
At Starlei we work on design from the point of view of biomechanics taking into account:
- The dimensions of the last are based on the anthropometric dimensions of the Spanish population.
- We adapt the rear to the heel as well as the width of the ankle, to avoid compression and limitations of movement in said joint.
- The length with a clearance of 0.5 or 1 cm depending on the type of design, is the clearance necessary to absorb the changes in length that the foot undergoes when walking and as a result of deformations of the plantar arches during the support of the body load.
- We respect the width of the foot. In many countries, a scale of widths is followed as well as widths. Narrow, medium, wide and extra-wide. This adjustment is very important, since it depends on it that the flexion of the fingers is not hindered.
- The fingers are not subjected to compression or alterations in their shape and position. It prevents the toes from getting together or overlapping or colliding with the toe of the shoe.
- We enhance natural cushioning mechanisms through actions on the sole and insole.
- The sole has the appropriate thickness, demonstrating effectiveness in cushioning impacts better than leather.
- The insole includes viscoelastic material under the bony prominences of the soles of the feet, thus improving the cushioning capacity of the shoe.
In addition, all our clients, both those who visit us in our workshop and those who contact us by WhatsApp, receive advice on choosing the size corresponding to the length and fit to the width of the foot and ankle. We can presume that during the year 2023 we did not have any exchanges or returns and in 2022 only one return due to a doubtful unknown cause.
More than 16 years guarantee the work in the custom-made shoe industry of our designer Patricia Rosales, and that is reflected in both the design and the comfort of Starlei footwear, where the care for the small details and its own artisanal manufacturing, make it an experience.
